Stern Laboratories welcomes the announcement that the Province of Ontario (via the IESO) and Bruce Power have reached an agreement for the supply and purchase of environmentally friendly nuclear energy. This is a key step in securing the economic viability of business in Ontario and providing residential customers with cost-effective power.
The agreement allows Bruce Power to continue investing private dollars into the provincially-owned power plants to ensure the most value is received from assets that Ontario paid for decades ago. The fact that private dollars have shown this to be viable is a clear indication that nuclear power and multi-billion dollar refurbishments make sense for the Ontario economy. As a technology that is labour intensive and has a low cost fuel, nuclear energy is a vital part of the energy mix that brings and retains high quality jobs in the province.
Stern Laboratories is a proud supporter of CANDU technology and looks forward to contributing to the continued success of nuclear industry in Ontario and internationally.
